Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement
- The Residential School Settlement Agreement received final Cabinet approval on May 10, 2006.
- Before the Settlement Agreement is final, the Agreement requires Court approval in at least 9 of the provinces and territories. The Courts in 10 provinces and territories have scheduled dates for a hearing.
- The Minister of Indian Affairs, the Honourable Jim Prentice, responded to Donovan & Company's February 14, 2006 letter outlining the fundamental flaws with the proposed Settlement Agreement.
- Donovan & Company has written to the leaders of all 5 federal political parties and to the Grand Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, Phil Fontaine, to address major flaws in the proposed settlement for former students of Indian Residential Schools.
